Golf in Carnuel

Carnuel is a small community in eastern Bernalillo County at the mouth of Tijeras Canyon, the geological corridor that cuts through the Sandia and Manzano mountain ranges connecting Albuquerque to the Estancia Valley. The Four Hills neighborhood — named for the volcanic cinder cones visible from the area — extends into this canyon approach. At roughly 5,200 feet, conditions here differ from the Rio Grande valley floor to the west: the canyon creates its own wind patterns, and the surrounding terrain transitions between desert scrub and juniper woodland. Four Hills Golf Course serves this distinct submarket, operating as a private facility for residents of the canyon-adjacent neighborhoods.
