Golf in Kirtland Air Force Base

Kirtland Air Force Base occupies a large section of southeast Albuquerque and adjacent East Mountains terrain, one of the most significant military installations in the United States. The base houses the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, Sandia National Laboratories (a Department of Energy contractor), and numerous research functions tied to nuclear weapons maintenance and space-based defense systems. Tijeras Arroyo Golf Course serves the base's military community at roughly 5,000 feet, with the Sandia Mountains forming an immediate eastern backdrop and the Manzano Mountains visible to the south.
