Fireweed Meadows Golf Course in Anchor Point on the Kenai Peninsula takes its name from the fireweed that blooms in summer across Alaska's disturbed and open landscapes, one of the most characteristic wildflowers of the subarctic and its signature sight each July when the hillsides turn deep magenta. The course serves a small community at the tip of the Sterling Highway near the Cook Inlet shore, providing golf for the year-round residents and seasonal visitors of the southern peninsula in a landscape defined by the maritime climate and the fishing culture of the Kenai's outer coast.
