Clayton is the county seat of Rabun County, in the extreme northeastern corner of Georgia in the Blue Ridge Mountains, bordering North Carolina and South Carolina. Rabun County is home to Lake Rabun, Lake Burton, Tallulah Gorge State Park, and the Chattooga Wild and Scenic River, which formed the backdrop for the 1972 film Deliverance. Clayton is the gateway to the mountain lake resort landscape of Rabun County in northeast Georgia.
