Hawaii Kai Golf Course is a golf facility in the Hawaii Kai area on the southeastern end of Oahu, serving the residential community of one of Honolulu's more affluent planned subdivisions. Hawaii Kai was developed by Kaiser Permanente founder Henry Kaiser in the 1950s and 60s by excavating and filling the former Maunalua Bay marshland to create a marina community, and the golf course provides recreational amenity for the residential community that Kaiser's development created. The southeastern Oahu location gives the course proximity to Hanauma Bay, Koko Head Crater, and the scenic southeastern shore drive that connects Hawaii Kai to downtown Honolulu.
