Raton Golf & Country Club sits at the foot of Raton Pass in Colfax County, one of the most significant mountain crossings on the historic Santa Fe Trail. Raton itself was a coal and railroad hub; the pass connects New Mexico to Colorado and carries Interstate 25 today along much of the same route used by wagon trains in the nineteenth century.
