Golf in Kenai

Kenai is the largest city on the Kenai Peninsula and one of Alaska's historic communities, settled by Russians in the eighteenth century and the site of one of the earliest Russian Orthodox churches in the state. The city's economy has been shaped by the Cook Inlet oil and gas discoveries of the late 1950s, which transformed Kenai from a fishing and homesteading community into a significant industrial center. Kenai Golf Course serves a community whose dual heritage—indigenous Dena'ina Athabascan, Russian colonial, and modern resource industry—creates a distinctive Alaskan community character in one of the peninsula's most economically significant cities.
