Golf in Dauphin Island

Dauphin Island is a barrier island at the mouth of Mobile Bay, connected to the mainland by bridge and accessible by ferry from Fort Morgan. The island's complex layering of ecological, historical, and recreational significance—including its role as a critical migratory bird stopover on the Gulf Coast flyway and as the site of Fort Gaines, which along with Fort Morgan guarded the entrance to Mobile Bay during the Civil War—makes it one of Alabama's most distinctive communities despite its small permanent population and its remoteness from the mainland commercial network.
