Golf in Selma

Selma is a Dallas County city on the Alabama River whose role in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s has given it enduring historical significance as the starting point of the 1965 Selma-to-Montgomery Voting Rights March and the site of the Bloody Sunday confrontation on the Edmund Pettus Bridge. The city's antebellum historic district—one of the best-preserved collections of nineteenth-century architecture in the Deep South—and its powerful Civil Rights heritage create a complex and consequential community identity in the Black Belt landscape of south-central Alabama.
