Golf in Pine Bluff

Pine Bluff is the county seat of Jefferson County and a former commercial and cultural center of southeast Arkansas whose twentieth-century decline has tracked the broader pattern of Delta and river town deindustrialization that has affected communities across the mid-South. The city was once the commercial hub of the Arkansas Delta, with a thriving downtown, significant manufacturing, and the state's first African American university—the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, founded in 1875. The challenges of economic decline have not eliminated Pine Bluff's civic traditions, and golf facilities including Harbor Oaks Golf Club and the Jaycee Golf Course reflect the community's effort to maintain recreational amenities for its diverse population.
