The oldest golf course on record in Connecticut is Greenwich Country Club, which first opened for play in 1892, a year verified against the operator's own site, a golf association, press coverage and a source cited on Wikipedia. The strongest competing claim on record is Hartford Golf Club, but no source dates its opening before 1896, later than 1892, so it does not lead this list. The 50 oldest golf courses in Connecticut by recorded founding year, from Greenwich Country Club in Greenwich in 1892 to 1928. They are drawn from the 143 Connecticut courses with a recorded founding year, 86% of the 166 listed here; the median founding year across that group is 1955. The rest carry no recorded year, so an older course may not appear on this list.
