Golf in Captiva

Captiva Island is a barrier island in Lee County, connected to the larger Sanibel Island at its southern end and accessible by the Sanibel Causeway from Cape Coral. The island supports two courses — The Clutch and The Sanctuary Golf Club — in a community where the Gulf beach setting and the conservation character of much of the island limit development intensity. No hole-count data is in public records for either course. The island draws visitors and year-round residents who prioritize the natural barrier-island environment over resort-scale infrastructure. The J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge on adjacent Sanibel defines much of the conservation character that shapes how both islands have developed.
