The oldest golf course on record in Iowa is Fairfield Golf and Country Club, which first opened for play in 1892, a year verified against the operator's own site and a golf association. The strongest competing claim on record is Davenport Country Club, but no source dates its opening before 1924, later than 1892, so it does not lead this list. The 50 oldest golf courses in Iowa by recorded founding year, from Fairfield Golf and Country Club in Fairfield in 1892 to 1927. They are drawn from the 302 Iowa courses with a recorded founding year, 83% of the 364 listed here; the median founding year across that group is 1964. The rest carry no recorded year, so an older course may not appear on this list.
