Golf in Algonquin

Algonquin straddles the Fox River on the Kane-McHenry county line, a community where the river's east-west meanders create a series of wooded banks and small floodplain features that distinguish the local landscape from the flat tablelands inland. The community has grown significantly since the 1990s, with new residential development spreading east and west from the historic downtown on Route 62. The Golf Club of Illinois represents Algonquin's contribution to the Fox River golf corridor, a chain of courses that follows the river from its Wisconsin headwaters to its Illinois River confluence. Algonquin's position between Elgin and Crystal Lake connects it to both Kane and McHenry County recreational networks.
