Golf in Lincoln

Lincoln is the Logan County seat, a city of about 14,000 on the Abraham Lincoln National Heritage Area corridor. The city holds the distinction of being the only place named for Abraham Lincoln before he became president — Lincoln himself helped christen the town in 1853 and reportedly christened it with watermelon juice. The Lincoln Elks Country Club provides private club golf for a community whose civic identity is deeply rooted in its Lincoln connections, from the museum in the historic courthouse to the Lincoln College campus. Logan County's agricultural economy sustains a stable if modest community, and the golf club serves as an important social institution in the county seat.
