Golf in Marengo

Marengo is a city in McHenry County, set in the western, more rural part of the county in the far reaches of Chicago's exurbs. Unlike the busier southeastern corner of the county, the area around Marengo remains largely agricultural, its open ground given over to the farmland that has long defined it. The city grew as a crossroads and farming community and retains that character even as the metro's growth approaches from the east. Set near the edge of the region's outward expansion, Marengo offers a landscape where farm fields still predominate. Golf here occupies the gently shaped open ground typical of the area, providing recreational rounds amid the surrounding countryside. For golfers, Marengo offers a round in one of the more rural corners of the northwest metro, where agriculture remains the dominant feature of the landscape rather than suburban development.
