Golf in Rantoul

Rantoul is a Champaign County community in the northern reaches of the metro, best understood through the lens of Chanute Air Force Base, which operated here from 1917 until 1993 and at its peak housed tens of thousands of military personnel. The base closure removed Rantoul's primary economic engine overnight, and the community has spent three decades rebuilding around light industry, logistics, and recreational amenities in the repurposed base facilities. Brookhill Golf Course and Willow Pond Golf Course provide a pair of recreational golf options that serve the recovering community and the surrounding agricultural townships of northern Champaign County. The flat terrain characteristic of this part of the county shapes both courses, with water features providing the primary design variety in an otherwise open landscape.
