Golf in Peru

Peru is the Miami County seat and one of Indiana's more historically unusual small cities — for decades in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, major American circuses chose Peru as their winter home, bringing elephants, big cats, and performers to the Miami County fairgrounds each fall. Hagenbeck-Wallace, Sells-Floto, and other major operations wintered here, leaving a circus legacy the city still celebrates at the annual Circus City Festival. Peru is also the birthplace of Cole Porter, the composer and lyricist whose sophistication seems improbable for a small Indiana river town. The Wabash and Mississinewa rivers converge in Miami County, and the county seat sits where their valleys define the landscape. Two golf facilities serve the Peru area.
