Golf in Great Bend

Great Bend takes its name from the great bend of the Arkansas River, the southward deflection of the river that creates one of the state's most distinctive geographic features. As the Barton County seat, Great Bend serves a region of wheat fields, oil wells, and wetlands — Cheyenne Bottoms, a massive inland marsh just north of the city, is one of the most important bird migration staging areas in North America, drawing birders from across the continent. The city of roughly 15,000 serves as a regional commercial hub for south-central Kansas. Stoneridge Country Club provides the community with private recreational golf on the open Arkansas River valley terrain.
