Golf in Blanchard

Caddo Parish covers northwest Louisiana's forested uplands, a region more connected geographically and economically to Dallas and Texarkana than to New Orleans. Blanchard is a small community north of Shreveport in the pine and hardwood timber country that characterized the region before natural gas development reshaped the local economy in the twentieth century. Northwood Hills Golf Club serves this community on the parish's northern fringe, set in the wooded terrain that distinguishes this part of Louisiana from the flat south. Pine-shaded fairways and red-clay upland characterize the landscape, and the golf experience here differs substantially from a bayou-country course in Lafourche or Terrebonne.
