Golf in Bel Air South

Bel Air South is the suburban fringe community extending southeast from the Bel Air city core toward the Chesapeake Bay coastal plain in Harford County. Maryland Golf & Country Club serves the established residential communities of this corridor, which has grown substantially since the interstate access improvements of the 1980s made the Baltimore-Harford commute manageable. The landscape here is piedmont transitioning toward the coastal plain—the soils change, the topography flattens, and the Bay's presence in the humid air becomes more perceptible. Harford County's rapid population growth has brought a significant recreational golf market to this southeastern tier. The Route 543 corridor's residential development and the proximity to the White Marsh commercial district have made Bel Air South one of the more active growth areas in the Baltimore metropolitan region.
