Golf in Cambridge

Cambridge is the seat of Dorchester County on the Choptank River, one of the Eastern Shore's largest tidal rivers and historically its most important commercial waterway. The Choptank was a working river for generations of watermen who harvested crabs, oysters, and shad from its tidal reach, and River Marsh Golf Club takes its name from the extensive wetlands that border the river throughout Dorchester County. Cambridge has experienced significant revitalization in recent years—the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge draws birders and hunters, while a growing arts and culinary scene has emerged alongside the traditional waterman economy. The golf course occupies land that captures both the flat terrain and the water-defined character of Maryland's lower Eastern Shore.
