The oldest golf course on record in New York is Edgewood Club of Tivoli, which first opened for play in 1884, a year verified against the operator's own site, a historical society, a published history and press coverage. The strongest competing claim on record is The Saint Andrew's Golf Club, but no source dates its opening before 1888, later than 1884, so it does not lead this list. The 50 oldest golf courses in New York by recorded founding year, from Edgewood Club of Tivoli in Tivoli in 1884 to 1912. They are drawn from the 454 New York courses with a recorded founding year, 68% of the 665 listed here; the median founding year across that group is 1958. The rest carry no recorded year, so an older course may not appear on this list.
