Kiawah Island is a private barrier island in Charleston County, southwest of the city of Charleston, accessible by causeway via the Johns Island-Kiawah corridor. Kiawah Island is one of the most celebrated golf destinations in the United States, home to the Kiawah Island Golf Resort's five courses and the private Kiawah Island Club. The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, designed by Pete Dye along 2.5 miles of Atlantic Ocean shoreline, hosted the 1991 Ryder Cup, 2012 PGA Championship, 2021 PGA Championship, and the 2031 Ryder Cup, making it one of the most decorated major championship venues in American golf.
