Golf in Castleton

Castleton is a Rutland County community best known as the home of Castleton University and the gateway to Lake Bomoseen, Vermont's largest wholly in-state lake. The university's presence brings an academic dimension to a small community that might otherwise be defined entirely by its rural landscape. Lake Bomoseen's development as a summer cottage destination in the late nineteenth century added a recreational layer to Castleton's identity, and the lake remains a significant draw for boaters, anglers, and summer residents.
