Baraboo is the seat of Sauk County, set in the scenic country of south-central Wisconsin between the Baraboo Range and the Wisconsin River. The city is famous as the original winter home of the Ringling Brothers circus and as the gateway to Devil's Lake State Park, where ancient quartzite bluffs rise above one of the most visited lakes in the state. The Wisconsin Dells lie just to the north, and the Driftless-influenced hills give the area a dramatic character. Baraboo's historic downtown and the Circus World museum reflect its colorful history. Golfers in the area find recreational courses set among the wooded ridges and river-valley terrain typical of Sauk County. With the Dells resort district nearby and the Wisconsin River winding past, Baraboo offers a base for golf in one of the most scenic and tourist-rich corners of south-central Wisconsin.
