Summit Ponte Golf Club sits in Milpitas at the northern edge of Santa Clara County near the Alameda County border, where the bay flatlands meet the lower slopes of the hills above the South Bay. Milpitas developed as an industrial and residential city in the postwar decades as the South Bay economy expanded, and the Summit Pointe area sits in hillside terrain above the city at a somewhat higher elevation than the flat bay-margin neighborhoods below. The course occupies this hillside position at the transition between the valley floor and the Calaveras Range above.
