Sandy Pebbles Golf Course is in Ahmeek, Houghton County, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Ahmeek is a small community in the Keweenaw Peninsula, the finger of land extending into Lake Superior at the far north of the UP. The Keweenaw Peninsula was once the world's greatest copper mining region, and communities like Ahmeek, Calumet, and Hancock carry the heritage of the massive copper industry that defined the area from the 1840s through the mid-twentieth century.
