Inn of the Mountain Gods Golf Course is part of the Mescalero Apache Tribe's resort complex near Ruidoso, one of the signature golf experiences in southern New Mexico. The Mescalero Apache have operated Ski Apache, the resort hotel, and the golf course as an integrated destination — the course reflects that investment. Elevation near 6,700 feet and the ponderosa-pine surroundings give the layout a mountain feel more commonly associated with Colorado or Arizona's White Mountains than the southern New Mexico desert. The Apache homeland in the Sacramento Mountains frames nearly every shot on the property.
