The Lodge Resort at Cloudcroft is one of the oldest resort properties in New Mexico, opened in 1899 as a destination for Southern Pacific Railroad workers and regional travelers seeking mountain relief from the desert heat below. The golf course at The Lodge operates at around 9,000 feet elevation, placing it among the highest resort golf layouts in the continental United States. Apache plume and Engelmann spruce frame the fairways; Sacramento Mountain views open at several points on the routing.
