Golf in Fort Payne

Fort Payne is the county seat of DeKalb County at the southern end of Lookout Mountain, a northeast Alabama city whose twentieth-century claim to fame was as the birthplace of the country music group Alabama, whose members grew up in Fort Payne and named themselves for their home state. The city's position at the base of Lookout Mountain—where the dramatic terrain of the Cumberland Plateau creates the natural landscape for DeSoto State Park and Little River Canyon National Preserve—makes it a gateway for outdoor recreation in one of Alabama's most scenic highland environments.
