Golf in Scottsboro

Scottsboro is the county seat of Jackson County in the northeastern corner of Alabama, a community whose name carries significant historical weight as the location of the 1931 Scottsboro Boys trials, in which nine young Black men were falsely convicted of rape in a case that became a landmark in American civil liberties law and a symbol of the injustice of the Jim Crow South. The city sits in the Tennessee River valley at the foot of Sand Mountain and Raccoon Mountain, where Guntersville Lake's eastern arm creates the landscape for water-based recreation and lakeside development. Scottsboro is also home to the Unclaimed Baggage Center, a unique retail store that has become a shopping destination in its own right.
