Golf in Candlewood Lake Club

Candlewood Lake Club is a residential community organized around Candlewood Lake, Connecticut's largest lake, which was created in 1926-1928 by flooding the Rocky River valley to generate hydroelectric power. The Candlewood Lake Golf and Country Club serves the lake community with golf that complements the boating, fishing, and swimming culture that defines life on Connecticut's most active freshwater recreational body. Candlewood Lake's 11 miles of length and the 60 miles of shoreline that ring the reservoir have supported a recreational community of boats, waterfront homes, and seasonal residents since the lake's creation in the late 1920s. The lake's scale—sixteen miles long and up to eleven miles wide at its broadest point—creates a regional recreational economy that extends well beyond the immediate shoreline, and the golf infrastructure serves as a year-round complement to the summer boating and fishing seasons.
