Golf in Enfield

Enfield is a Hartford County town on the Connecticut River adjacent to the Massachusetts border, a community whose manufacturing heritage—including the Hazard Powder Company and the American Thread Company—and proximity to the Massachusetts line have shaped a community character that straddles the urban industrial traditions of the Connecticut River valley and the rural New England landscape. Grassmere Country Club provides the Enfield community with nine-hole private golf in the tobacco country north of Hartford. Enfield's Powder Hollow Park preserves the site of the Hazard Powder Company, a nineteenth-century black powder manufacturer whose operations defined the town's industrial economy and whose history is now commemorated in one of Connecticut's more unusual industrial heritage parks.
