Golf in Halawa

Halawa is a valley community in central Oahu, positioned at the juncture of the Pearl Harbor plain and the valley terrain of the Ko'olau foothills where Fort Shafter and the historic Moanalua Golf Club occupy the lower valley floor. The Halawa area's strategic position between Honolulu and Pearl Harbor gave it military significance from the earliest days of American presence in Hawaii, and Fort Shafter—the Army's Hawaii headquarters—remains a defining feature of the valley's character. Moanalua Golf Club occupies terrain within this historically layered landscape, serving a private membership in a valley where the Hawaiian historical character is preserved in the Moanalua Gardens' ancient monkeypod trees and the archaeological sites of the lower valley.
