Golf in Eureka

Eureka is the Woodford County seat and the home of Eureka College, best known as the alma mater of Ronald Reagan. The small city balances county government functions with a liberal arts college identity, creating a community character somewhat richer than its population might suggest. Kaufman Golf Course serves Eureka and the surrounding Woodford County townships, operating as the default recreational golf facility for a county seat whose residents otherwise would travel to Peoria or Bloomington for a full range of golf options. The surrounding countryside is prime prairie farmland, with the golf course sitting at the edge of where the town gives way to the fields.
