Golf in West Lafayette

West Lafayette is defined almost entirely by Purdue University, one of the nation's flagship land-grant institutions. The university's enrollment regularly exceeds forty thousand students, making Purdue's presence the dominant fact of West Lafayette's economy, land use, and civic character. The Wabash River separates West Lafayette from Lafayette proper, and the two cities function as a paired community despite their distinct governments and identities. Tippecanoe County extends well beyond the university campus into agricultural townships where the river valley and grain farming remain the primary economic activities. Three golf facilities serve West Lafayette, including Ackerman-Allen Golf Course — an 18-hole Purdue facility — and Kampen Golf Course, also university-affiliated, alongside the community-oriented West Lafayette Golf Club.
