Golf in Hammond

Tangipahoa Parish anchors the Florida Parishes, the strip of Louisiana north of Lake Pontchartrain that was historically part of Spanish West Florida and retains a landscape — pine hills, clear streams, strawberry farms — distinct from the bayou south. Hammond is the parish's commercial center and home to Southeastern Louisiana University, which brings a college-town dimension to the community. Two facilities serve Hammond: Hammond Golf Center and Oak Knoll Country Club, covering different ends of the market in a town with both residential depth and university population. The Tangipahoa River drains the parish toward Lake Pontchartrain, and the piney upland terrain gives courses here better natural drainage than most of south Louisiana.
