Golf in Marksville

Avoyelles Parish sits in the geographic center of Louisiana, ringed by the Atchafalaya and Red rivers and containing some of the state's most distinctive inland wetlands. Marksville, the parish seat, is also the home of the Tunica-Biloxi tribe and their gaming resort, giving the community an economic anchor that belies its small size. Spring Bayou Golf Course takes its name from one of the oxbow lakes and bayous scattered across Avoyelles Parish — spring bayous are the locally common term for the clear-water backwater lakes that form where old river channels have been cut off. The Avoyelles landscape is transitional: some of the bottomland feels like deep south Louisiana while the upland ridges carry a different character.
