Golf in Garrison

Garrison in Baltimore County's western sector occupies the limestone-rich terrain of the Green Spring Valley and Caves Branch watershed, one of the most geographically and socially significant corridors in Maryland golf. Three major private clubs serve this small community: Caves Valley Golf Club, which hosted the Ryder Cup; Green Spring Valley Hunt Club, whose equestrian traditions predate its golf program; and Woodholme Country Club, a historically significant institution in Baltimore's Jewish community. The karst topography here—natural caves, underground streams, and sinkholes created by dissolving limestone—gives Caves Valley its dramatic character and provides all three clubs with terrain that elevates their layouts well above the piedmont average.
