Golf in Laytonsville

Laytonsville is a small Montgomery County community in the upper reaches of the Patuxent watershed, positioned at the boundary where suburban development meets the county's agricultural reserve. Three golf facilities serve this transitional community: Blue Mash Golf Course, Laytonsville Golf Course, and Montgomery Country Club. The concentration of courses here reflects both the available open space of the reserve boundary and the proximity to the county's dense suburban population just to the south. Laytonsville Road and Damascus Road form the primary corridors through a landscape where preserved horse farms, stream valleys, and golf courses coexist with the low-density residential development that has followed the county's northward expansion.
