Golf in Perryville

Perryville is a Cecil County community at the mouth of the Susquehanna River where it enters the upper Chesapeake Bay—a location of enormous historical importance as a crossing point on the colonial road between north and south. The Havre de Grace-Perryville crossing was the primary ferry route before the Millard E. Tydings Bridge connected the two shores in 1940. Furnace Bay Golf Course occupies terrain adjacent to this historic waterway, taking its name from the colonial-era iron furnaces that processed local ore using the Susquehanna's water power. The upper Bay's extraordinary natural richness—shad runs, waterfowl concentrations, migratory bird flights—surrounds the course with wildlife context that no inland facility can match.
