Golf in Cedar Springs

Cedar Springs is a Kent County city north of Grand Rapids in the Rogue River corridor, a community known colloquially as the 'Red Flannel Town' after a 1939 newspaper joke about the city's mail-order red flannel underwear business took on a life of its own and became the basis for an annual Red Flannel Festival that has celebrated the community's identity since the 1940s. Cedar Springs' character combines the agricultural and residential tradition of the northern Kent County countryside with suburban residential growth following the US-131 corridor north from Grand Rapids, and golf here serves a market that spans the rural farming community and the suburban residential growth that has followed the highway northward.
