Golf in Monroe

Monroe is the county seat of Monroe County in the southeastern corner of Michigan on the River Raisin, a city whose Battle of River Raisin historical significance—the bloodiest defeat of American forces in the War of 1812—and its position as General George Custer's birthplace (he lived in Monroe for much of his youth) give it a specific historical identity. Monroe's industrial history includes the Fermi nuclear power plant and the Monroe Power Plant coal facility on Lake Erie, and the city has navigated the energy and industrial transitions of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
