Wyandotte is a Wayne County city on the Detroit River south of Detroit, a Downriver community with a distinctive identity—the Wyandotte Chemical Company (later BASF) gave the city a significant chemical manufacturing heritage, and the city's Hungarian and other ethnic immigrant communities built a specific working-class cultural identity.
