Cashiers is an unincorporated mountain community in Jackson County, at a high-elevation plateau in the southern Blue Ridge of western North Carolina. Sitting at about 3,500 feet elevation, Cashiers is surrounded by dramatic mountain terrain including Whiteside Mountain, the Chattooga River headwaters, and the Nantahala National Forest. The community has been a summer resort destination since the nineteenth century, attracting residents from across the Southeast to its elevated plateau setting, and today supports one of the most active private club golf scenes in the NC mountains. The Cashiers plateau encompasses Cashiers, Sapphire, and Glenville, with eleven golf facilities making this mountain community a significant destination.
