Golf in Newland

Newland is the county seat of Avery County, in the NC High Country at the highest county seat in the eastern United States. Avery County is among the highest-elevation counties in the eastern US, with terrain ranging from around 2,500 feet in the valleys to over 6,000 feet on Roan Mountain and other peaks. Newland is in the Toe River valley at a high elevation, surrounded by the spruce-fir forests and balds of the High Country. The county is adjacent to Beech Mountain, Banner Elk, and Linville — key resort communities in this part of the NC mountains.
