Golf in Milan

Milan is a small Cibola County community adjacent to Grants at roughly 6,500 feet, situated at the base of the Zuni Mountains near the intersection of I-40 and New Mexico 53. The community occupies the edge of a geologically remarkable landscape — El Malpais National Monument's lava flows begin just south of Grants, and the Zuni Mountains provide a forested counterpoint to the volcanic desert floor. The broader Grants-Milan area served as a uranium mining hub from the 1950s through the 1980s, an economic history that shaped the region's infrastructure. Zuni Mountain Golf Course provides recreational golf in a mountain-edge setting where the forested Zuni terrain rises above the surrounding basalt and sandstone landscape, offering conditions noticeably cooler and greener than the desert courses to the east along the I-40 corridor.
