Golf in Dandridge

Dandridge is the seat of Jefferson County and the second-oldest incorporated town in Tennessee, a designation that places it in a very short list alongside Jonesborough. The town sits near the western end of Douglas Lake, the TVA reservoir on the Nolichucky River, where the Appalachian foothills begin to assert themselves in the transition zone between the valley floor and the Blue Ridge. The historic downtown along Main Street preserves Federal and Greek Revival commercial buildings that reflect the town's early 19th-century prosperity, and the lakeside setting has attracted a modest retirement and second-home economy. Jefferson County's position between Knoxville and the Smokies gateway at Sevierville makes it a quieter alternative to the more tourist-saturated corridor to the south.
