Rockvale is a small Rutherford County community south of Murfreesboro, in the limestone farmland of the Nashville Basin where the county's rapid growth has been slower to arrive than in the communities along the Interstate 24 corridor. The southern tier of Rutherford County retains more of its agricultural character — cattle farms, hay fields, and the cedar glade openings that interrupt the limestone upland — giving Rockvale a rural identity that contrasts with the construction activity visible further north.
